For today’s post, we bring you a “SNiP” or Small News in Pieces! In each SNiP, we will highlight exciting research articles we’ve come across that feature Mirus Bio products… in bite-size pieces.
We all know mitochondria are the powerhouses of the cell. But, have you ever considered how cells make new mitochondria? Interestingly, exercise has been linked to mitochondrial biogenesis.1 Hwang et al. illuminate the role of transcription factor TAZ in upregulating mitochondrial biogenesis in response to exercise.
So… can we get a dose of TAZ and skip the gym?

Title: TAZ links exercise to mitochondrial biogenesis via mitochondrial transcription factor A Authors: Jun-Ha Hwang, Kyung Min Kim et al. Journal:Nature Communications, Volume 13, 03 Feb 2022. DOI: 10.1038/s41467-022-28247-2 Product Usage:TransIT-VirusGEN® Transfection Reagent was used to generate AAV for overexpression and knockdown of the mitochondrial biogenesis transcriptional coactivator TAZ in skeletal muscle.
