Shipping and Product Finishing Assistant

Job Summary

Reporting to the Shipping Manager, the Shipping and Product Finishing Assistant will be responsible for a variety of shipping, receiving and product finishing activities. These include the accurate picking, packaging and shipping of customer orders; ensuring all related documents such as Certificates of Analysis, packing slips and commercial invoices are included with each shipment. Receiving, unloading and verifying incoming material is correct and put away or routed to the correct department. Ensure accurate computer data entry into ERP system to support inventory management and product shipping. This position requires individuals to be highly organized, detail orientated, and able to work in a fast-paced team environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for picking, packaging, and shipping products to customers according to established procedures
  • Process shipments for domestic and international customers or distributors 
  • Generate commercial invoice for international shipments using Microsoft Excel
  • Assemble finished goods for inventory (product kitting)
  • Unpack and check materials received against packing slips or purchase orders
  • Assist with ordering and maintaining inventory of shipping supplies
  • Follow workflow processes using the Mirus Bio LLC enterprise resource planning system
  • Responsible for moving materials to and from storage and loading areas by hand truck, cart, and pallet jack
  • Assists in the organization and cleaning of the Shipping and Receiving areas
  • Assist with physical inventory counting and managing supplies at off-site storage facility
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) 
  • This position is an individual contributor and does not have supervisory responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications 

  • AA or certificate from vocational school preferred
  • HS diploma or equivalent with 0-2 years of recent shipping/receiving/warehouse experience
  • Previous experience with an enterprise resource planning system such as Microsoft Navision or SAP preferred 
  • Proficiency using FedEx Ship Manager and/or UPS World Ship software preferred
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and label printers preferred
  • Experience in a GMP or medical environment preferred
  • Experience with dangerous goods shipping preferred

Physical Demands/Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently enter walk-in cold storage units, operate a pallet jack and carts, regularly move objects weighing up to 40 lbs. and occasionally move objects weighing up to 70 lbs. Position will require extended periods of standing or walking.
