Position Purpose

Mirus Bio is an established biotechnology company seeking a full-time Production Specialist to join our growing team based in Madison, Wisconsin. The primary goal of this position is to manufacture and perform quality testing of Mirus Bio’s products including: in vitro transfection reagents, nucleic acid labeling reagents, and accessory products. This position will report to the Production Supervisor, and work closely with Quality, Technical Support, Shipping and R&D departments. Previous laboratory experience with cell biology techniques including mammalian tissue culture is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties:
  • Manufacture bulk, intermediate and finished products.
    Perform product finishing activities including dispensing, labeling, and packaging.
  • Perform cell culture maintenance, cell-based functional assays, and molecular biology techniques such as DNA labeling to ensure quality specifications are met.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the manufacturing, dispensing, finishing, and testing of products.
  • Assist with revisions to Production and Quality Control procedures.
  • Maintain production batch records and follow good documentation procedures.
  • General lab maintenance such as restocking consumables, washing glassware and removing lab waste.
  • Use an ERP system (Microsoft Navision) for the planning and tracking of production needs and inventory.
  • Assist in ordering and receiving Production RUO and cGMP materials into inventory.
Other Duties:
  • Assist in kitting verification for the Shipping department when required.
  • Write deviations and change controls as required.
  • Serve as a back-up for various production responsibilities as needed.
  • Follow GDP and cGMP guidelines and ensure quality compliance.
  • Adhere to Biological Safety 2 (BSL-2) guidelines and standard laboratory practices to create a safe laboratory environment.
  • Operate laboratory equipment and maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization.
  • Interface and work amicably with other departments including facilities, shipping, quality, and R&D.
  • Represent the company in a positive and professional manner.
  • Build positive relationships during internal and external interactions.

Skill Set

Essential Skills:
  • Experience with cell biology techniques such as, mammalian tissue culture and transfection.
  • Ability to work productively in a team environment.
  • Capability to work in an organized manner, to make critical observations, and to maintain good records of the results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Skills:
  • Associates degree or higher in Biology or related field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience working in a laboratory setting.
  • Experience working in a cGMP environment.
  • Previous experience working for a life sciences company is preferred.

Qualification Requirements: At least 1 year of relevant experience working in a laboratory setting.

Physical Demands: Most of workday is spent working in the lab. Ability to lift 35lbs occasionally.

Work Environment: Repetitive motion may be a work environment stressor for this position.
