Job Summary:

Mirus Bio is expanding and has an immediate opening for an Applications Scientist based in Europe. This position is at the forefront of the customer experience and the right candidate will join a customer-centric team to support scientists through the introduction, positioning, training, and ongoing sales and support of Mirus Bio technologies. The Application Scientist will report to the Director of Sales & Support and will nurture the customer experience with Sales, Technical Support, R&D, Marketing, Customer Service and Shipping departments. This is a full time, field-based position based in Europe with access to a major, international airport to support our customers located in Europe and Asia. The responsibilities outlined below may fluctuate depending on the number of projects, sales opportunities, and current business priorities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical field support for Mirus Bio customers, including experimental design and troubleshooting
  • Identifies, nurtures and closes sales Opportunities
  • Tracks sales Opportunities through a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform (e.g., Salesforce)
  • Represents Mirus Bio products to the life science community, including seminar and poster presentations of established technologies at local and large industry trade shows
  • Aligns with Sales and Marketing to ensure the value of the Mirus Bio product line is communicated clearly and effectively to customers and employees
  • Collaborates with Product Management, Applications and Technical Support, Customer Service and Sales to identify key customer requirements for future product development efforts
  • Coordinates with Sales and Marketing to coordinate and to schedule onsite demonstrations and customer trainings
  • Actively provides feedback regarding customer requirements, product evaluations, and general product improvements.
  • Coordinates with Applications Support, Technical Support and Marketing teams to provide relevant application content to support our customers, products, and marketing media.
  • Assists in new product development and existing product support by suggesting and planning experiments identified as relevant and vital to success and growth.
  • Supports distribution channels by attending sales meetings, training representatives, nurturing large distribution opportunities, and serving as a key technical support resource.
  • Develops technical marketing pieces including (e.g., whitepapers, application notes, advertorials, email blasts, social media posts, etc.) and gather information necessary to aid the Marketing, Sales, Support and Applications teams in effectively selling products to new and existing customers
  • Assists with video and audio content production as needed
  • Generates new ideas that grow market share and improve customer satisfaction
  • Obtains feedback and organize VOC information
  • Assesses competition and customer feedback to understand our success or failure in the market and suggest changes to our products, messaging, and customer support for improvement
  • Maintains strong working relationships within R&D, Marketing, Sales & Support, Customer Service, Product Management, Production, and Shipping departments
  • Stays abreast of the latest trends in the field via literature and personal communications with researchers and other life science suppliers.
  • Demonstrates behavior outlined within the Mirus Bio Employee Handbook.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Senior Applications Scientist or Director, Sales & Support

Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biology, Chemistry, Bioinformatics) or a life sciences-related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of life science research/lab experience equivalent experience with demonstrated performance required
  • Master’s degree or PhD (in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biology, Chemistry, Bioinformatics) or a life sciences-related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of life science research/lab experience equivalent experience with demonstrated performance required preferred

Professional

  • Minimum of four years of experimental design and troubleshooting required.
  • Four or more years wet lab experience required. Recent experience (within last 3 years) preferred
  • Five or more years of public speaking/presentation experience required. Highly driven, proactive individual with a strong motivation to succeed and drive business growth
  • Experience with transfection, electroporation and viral transduction workflows is preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), e-mail and the use of the Internet is required
  • Experience working with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software (e.g., Salesforce or other) preferred
  • Excellent written, verbal, listening and presentation skills and previous experience giving technical oral and/or poster presentations to other scientists
  • Effective in opportunity management, problem-solving, organization and acting with little direction
  • Comfortable with setting and upholding deadlines, working in a cross-functional team setting
  • Firm understanding of molecular biology, cell biology and related fields and ability to clearly communicate complex technical information
  • Approachable, friendly personality and ability to work well in a highly collaborative team environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), e-mail and the use of the Internet
  • Product management, marketing or technical support experience in a life sciences company is preferred

Travel Requirements

  • Ability to travel independently up to 50%, including overnight travel
  • Ability to drive a vehicle; Must have current and valid driver license
  • Ability to travel by air; Must have current and valid Passport/Visa to travel throughout Europe, Asia and to the US
