We all know mitochondria are the powerhouses of the cell. But, have you ever considered how cells make new mitochondria? Interestingly, exercise has been linked to mitochondrial biogenesis.1 Hwang et al. illuminate the role of transcription factor TAZ in upregulating mitochondrial biogenesis in response to exercise.

So... can we get a dose of TAZ and skip the gym?
